Could this change the world???

Every so often, I come across something that just blows me away. Today is one of those times.
There is a man who has made a discovery that could very well change the world, provided he is not a fraud. His discovery could change the world as we know it unless the powerful people who are undoubtedly lining up against him as I type this bury him. Our world could change FOR THE BETTER, provided, armies of lobbyists are stopped in their tracks THIS VERY MOMENT before they can start poisoning the minds of our fragile congressional representatives.

Radio Frequencies Help Burn Salt Water
By David Templeton, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

ERIE, Pa. - An Erie cancer researcher has found a way to burn salt water, a novel invention that is being touted by one chemist as the "most remarkable" water science discovery in a century.
John Kanzius happened upon the discovery accidentally when he tried to desalinate seawater with a radio-frequency generator he developed to treat cancer. He discovered that as long as the salt water was exposed to the radio frequencies, it would burn.

The discovery has scientists excited by the prospect of using salt water, the most abundant resource on earth, as a fuel.
Rustum Roy, a Penn State University chemist, has held demonstrations at his State College lab to confirm his own observations.
The radio frequencies act to weaken the bonds between the elements that make up salt water, releasing the hydrogen, Roy said. Once ignited, the hydrogen will burn as long as it is exposed to the frequencies, he said.
The discovery is "the most remarkable in water science in 100 years," Roy said.
"This is the most abundant element in the world. It is everywhere," Roy said. "Seeing it burn gives me the chills."
Roy will meet this week with officials from the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense to try to obtain research funding.
The scientists want to find out whether the energy output from the burning hydrogen — which reached a heat of more than 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit — would be enough to power a car or other heavy machinery.
"We will get our ideas together and check this out and see where it leads," Roy said. "The potential is huge."

Now, I must admit that I haven't researched this thing too much, but over the next few days I'm going to use the link on this blog (to the right) to E-Mail my representatives on The Hill to aid the research of this discovery. Provided it is legit, this could end global warming, cut greenhouse gases down to next to nothing, wipe air pollution off of the map and give our children, grand children and dozens of more generations a world with clean clear air, clean water and endless fuel.

That is pretty amazing, but wouldn't that create a problem with global warming etc.

You know the oil industry would shut this thing down don't you?

Gosh, just imagine how many things would change if this were true. But yeah, I'm sure a whole lot of folks want to shut it down or say it's cost prohibitive.

Hey GEM 2001, how are you?

I think this would eliminate global warming because there would be no harmful exhaust, no smoke, no chemicals no anything. And those are the stings that create the global warming.

And yeah, sadly I agree that the oil companies would shut this thing down so quick we may NEVER see it surface again! If this power source could be harnessed [other articles said that a 3000 degree flame is produced with ease] EVERYTHING could run on salt water... cars, planes, factories, boats, power plants - the list is endless and all without deadly smoke and gases. It's too good to be true.

Hey LIZ!

I'm excited over this! Not for me per se - but for my kids and potential grand kids! But I'm a realist, and I know this is going to be buried in the muck this time next year. GRRRRRRRRR-

Hi TTBM!
Long time! This is a possible life changing event for all of us as well as those to come - think of it! Perhaps the Oil companies would be happy to purchase the pumping rights as well as the rights to resell it. The next thing though would be a war over who owned the seas. Let's face it, it doesn't matter what it is that makes our machinery work be it oil or gold flakes...or water...we will pay for it. Would these companies as well as governments not see the benefit of simply changing what's on the shelf? Just providing a different filler for the pumps? Before man found that oil could be refined and sold as a fuel it was just worthless goo. Why not just change the product. Someone would have to pump it and do whatever it takes to make it burn, same as they do with oil. It's a shame it all comes down to dollars and cents. Great post and please keep us all informed! Hope something comes of it!

Interesting, but it makes me wonder what would happen to beaches? Would they all be closed, so that the salt water can be taken? No more swimming and lounging by the sea. And could we use up too much of the salt water eventually?

Hey DEATHSWEEP-

Yup - it will all come down to plain old money. Most of the articles I'm reading on this have these little qualifiers like, "the use of saltwater as a fuel is still not completely practical..." And, I'm thinking - DARN, can we just give it a chance before we start lining up behind the concerns of Big Oil. A discovery like this will clearly change the world economy completely, and the richest and most powerful people will stop at nothing to protect their wealth!

This makes me think about a cancer cure uncovered about 20 years ago. It had something to do with a chemical extract from apricott seeds. There was this one doctor that was using it on his patients with great success, but the American Cancer Society did all they could to bury this guy. They got his license taken and basically crushed him. So, I'd have to be a fool to think that the oil powerbase in this world would let this saltwater thing progress. In six months we won't be able to find anything about it on google.

-Sad.

Hello ANALI! How are you?!?!
I thought about this and I figured we'd be fairly safe with the beaches and all. Considering how small the worlds oil fields are and the drillable oil life span is estimated between another 175 to 300 years. I figure the available salt water on the earth would last 100's of thousands of years [that is my humblest of opinions] but, I doubt if we'll ever have to worry about that. Big Oil is going to bury this guy.

I love this blog! I was over at Nuvision for a Nuday and saw the fave rave about you and this blog, so here I am checking it out. I would be interested in seeing what else you find out about the saltwater-as-an-energy-source deal. I am going to spend some time checking out your blog and past posts. I certainly will leave my opinion. Blog more frequently--you are very interesting!

Brother TTBM,

If this is as good as it sounds, and is practical and pratciceable, it could be the most promising thing yet.

I hope it's legit... for my children's sake.

I sho' hope this is true. I spend $700 a month in gas just to get to and from work and to do a couple of personal things on the weekend. Not to mention the damage I am doing to the ecosystem. It's ridiculous!

I remember seeing the story and thinking the same thing, but then the story just died.

Then I read some other blogs that offered an explanation. Apparently the energy needed to produce the radio waves exceeded the energy obtained from the reaction. They claim the process is a net energy loser.

I wish I saved the links
